Cerro Caracol is a geographical landmark of the city of Concepción. Its maximum height is 250 meters.
It is known as the green lung of the city, due to the large amount of forestry and flora existing on the hill.
As a recreational area it has been ´´fused´´ with Ecuador Park, which is located at the foot of the hill.
On the hill there are multiple walks, which can be accessed by car or on foot.
At the top of the hill there is a kind of ´´oval´´. Around it there are benches and in the center, the German Viewpoint. This one has a great historical connotation in the city.
It was built by Don Arturo Junge Sahr, and financed by the German colony that lived in the city in honor of the German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. This was the first monument in all of South America in honor of this character.

By plane
Daily flights depart from Santiago at the Arturo Merino Benítez Airport. The duration of the flight is 1 hour.
By car
It can be reached from Chillán to the southwest by Route 5 South, it is 15 km., And then to the west by Route 152. In total there are 112 km. on asphalt road.
It can be reached from Los Angeles to the north by Route 5 south to the town of Cabrero and from there to the northwest. In total there are 130 km. on asphalt road.
By bus
Buses leave every 1 hour from the main terminals in Santiago, the trip takes 6 hours. From regions there are daily departures, you should check with the respective road terminals.
Presents native vegetation mixed with eucalyptus, pine and Australian scents.
It has two levels: The first was closed by an iron gate, and the second is the viewpoint. Below there is a beautiful panoramic view of the city.
It is one of the most important historical landmarks in Penquista due to its location and age.
