Cette petite propriété a été construite par le Sénat en 1574, formant un simple calvaire. Miguel Borralho, promoteur de la construction d'une croisière et de son intégration dans une chapelle fermée, était responsable de l'aspect actuel du temple. Tout cela en 1751.

Selon certaines chroniques, c’est près de cet endroit que D. Nuno Alvares Pereira a entendu la messe avant la bataille de Atoleiros en 1384.
