Liverpool was built in 1911, for many years it was the only ´´gavietero´´ (tugboat) in the Chilean sea. Its large capacity allowed it to lift up to 40 tons. It was used to recover chains, buoys, laying underwater pipes, supporting ships in maneuvers in ports, etc. from the bottom of the sea. In 1994 this tugboat was transformed into a Maritime Cultural Center that will have the characteristics of a museum.

By plane:
Talcahuano has an airport called ‘Carriel Sur’. There are daily flights from Santiago to Concepción and Talcahuano. The duration of the trip is approximately 1 hour.
By car:
It can be reached from Chillán to the southwest by route 5 South, it is 15 km., And then to the west by route 152. In total it is 112 km. on asphalt road.
If you are traveling from the south, it is recommended to take the route along the Ruta de La Madera that passes through Angol, Nacimiento and Santa Juana.
By Train:
It currently operates a night service from Santiago to Talcahuano. You should check with the respective train station.
By Bus:
Buses leave every 1 hour from the main terminals in Santiago, the trip takes 6 hours. From regions there are daily departures, you should check with the respective road terminals.
On August 6, 1990 it was declared a National Monument.
