L'edificio esistente è notoriamente una riforma del diciassettesimo secolo, con alcuni elementi successivi, come il campanile, del XVIII secolo, o le campane, del XIX e del XX secolo.
L'interno non ha più alcun elemento precedente alla riforma del XVII secolo, essendo di questa altezza il lamellare delle mattonelle policrome della navata, le pale d'altare in stucco delle cappelle laterali o il pulpito in marmo, pezzo di buona scultura con scatola circolare e base quadrata.
Tuttavia, nel diciannovesimo secolo, nel 1829 e nel 1889, il coro aveva due importanti opere che rimuovevano molti degli elementi più antichi. Da questo momento gli intonaci policromi allusive al Santissimo Sacramento e la pala d'altare, anche in stucco, su uno sfondo in muratura.

La data della fondazione di questa chiesa è sconosciuta, come era noto nel 1534. Túlio Espanca pensa che sia stata costruita alla fine del XV secolo, sulla base dell'esterno cilindrico della cappella principale, con caratteristiche tipicamente manueline . Un altro elemento relativamente arcaico è il portale principale dell'ingresso, in marmo, che presenta / mostra aspetto rinascimentale, di buona esecuzione tecnica e artistica.
