Het bestaande gebouw is notoir een hervorming van de zeventiende eeuw, met enkele latere elementen, zoals de klokkentoren, uit de achttiende eeuw, of de klokken, uit de negentiende en twintigste eeuw.
Het interieur heeft geen enkel element meer voorafgaand aan de reformatie in de 17e eeuw. Het heeft de lamellaire polychrome tegels van het schip, de stucwerkretabels van de zijkapellen of de marmeren preekstoel, stuk goed beeldhouwwerk met ronde doos en vierkante basis.
Echter, in de negentiende eeuw, in 1829 en 1889, had het koor twee belangrijke werken die veel van de oudste elementen verwijderden. Vanaf deze tijd verwijzen de polychrome pleisters naar het Heilige Sacrament en het altaarstuk, ook in stucwerk, op een metselwerkachtergrond.

De datum van de oprichting van deze kerk is onbekend, omdat het bekend was dat het bestond in 1534. Túlio Espanca denkt dat het aan het einde van de 15e eeuw is gebouwd, gebaseerd op de cilindrische buitenkant van de hoofdkapel, met typisch Manuelijnse kenmerken . Een ander relatief archaïsch element is het hoofdportaal van de ingang, in marmer, dat een renaissancistisch aspect presenteert / vertoont, van een goede technische en artistieke uitvoering.
